About Atrial Fibrillation

A trial Fibrillation (Afib for short) is a disease that affects the upper chambers of the heart. Atrial Fibrillation is a very complex disease, and it is difficult to manage for physicians and patients alike. One of the main difficulties for patients is the feeling of lack of control. For a long time, health experts believed that patients couldn’t do much to expedite the treatment process. However, recent studies reinforce the importance of knowledge and lifestyle in the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation. By making the appropriate lifestyle changes, some patients have even managed to reverse the disease.

Another challenge is navigating the overwhelming amount of information on the internet. There are many high-quality resources available, such as StopAfib, My AFib Experience or patient materials from American Heart Association. Unfortunately, there are also a number of questionable websites with misleading information, which leave patients feeling discouraged and confused when they search for information on their disease. This abundance of information calls for more structured education programs.

In order to address those problems and patients’ needs, we developed, with an invaluable input from Afib patients, the Afib Companion program.
